Small Steps

If you like music, action and some drama this is the great book for you. Small steps is about a boy named Theodore. He went to a juvenile attention facility called Camp Green Lake. Once he got out he wanted to turn his life around but his friend x-ray is making it so he can't do it. One of the biggest reasons is because x- ray wants money to buy Kaira DeLeon concert tickets so he can be a ticket scalper. So when he buys the tickets he can't sell the last two so Theodore wants to take his neighbor Ginny. When they are at the concert Ginny has a seizure and the cops come over and check their tickets. What Theodore doesn't know is that X- Ray had copied the tickets and the cops got into a fight with Theodore. When they went to the hospital at the concert they met Kaira DeLeon.

This is an enjoyable book if you like singers like Janis Joplin. I enjoyed this book a lot because of the music. I could also enjoy it because of the drama. It's not over dramatic but it's dramatic in a funny way. I like everything about this book and not in a bad way but I think this would make a better movie than holes did. I think this just because it has a really good message. So does holes but this one seems like it would be funny and have a message that most middle school students will understand. Which brings me to tell you who I would recommend this book to.

I would recommend this book to boys and girls of the middle grade level. I do this because of some information that might not be understandable. I think they would enjoy it because it is an exciting book. I like normally don't like books like this but this was an exception. And even though this book has a lot of the same characters as holes by Louis Sachar you don't have to read holes to understand this book.

I thought it was good but you might want to capitalize the titles of the books.

Tori, I really like your lead, but you need to check to make sure that you don't have run-on sentences like the one above.

I like your recommendation too. It was very clear.
